Colour is imbued with many meanings. Yellow is the colour of communication, mental stimulation, optimism and happiness. In China it is the colour of royalty, of luck and of the Earth. A case of semantics and semiotics. Yellowfields is the trading name of cartographer and information designer, Jason Clark. He has over 20 years of experience gained within both the public and private sectors and currently works out of his studio based in south Devon.
He works with organisations small and large, both independently and collaboratively, dependent upon project requirements.
His core services are cartography and information design (spatial information design). Typically, clients are engaged in the fields of town planning, transport, architecture, urban design, regeneration, environmental management and conservation.
Projects range from turn-key
design and production solutions through to design thinking and research leading to proposal formulation or communication strategies. Wayfinding projects may encompass movement analysis, network development, information planning and product design.
Ultimately, all projects are about engaging and meeting the needs of the end user — communicating the most complex and abstract ideas and proposals with clarity and simplicity is fundamental.
“Don’t design for everyone. It’s impossible. All you end up doing is designing something that makes everyone unhappy.”
