Square Up, a global financial services company, contacted Yellowfields to create a map-based artwork to cover a wall in their London HQ reception area. They were interested in having a map of central London covering one entire wall area, approximately 8×2m in size. Jason conceived this more minimal approach which simply shows built form and water bodies, rendered using Square Up corporate colours. The only additional graphic is the Square Up logo, indicating the location of the new HQ.
This approach, using attributed open data, is stylistic yet but still very revealing of the morphology of the city. Roads and parks are clearly visible by their absence. A simple yet effective solution. An extract is shown above.
